If cooking 1-inch-thick steak, you will have to use direct heat. When the grill is hot, hold your hand at grill level for three seconds, grill your steak for 9 to 10 minutes for rare, 12 to fifteen for medium

As I said, I use the gas barbecue for cooking, so I turn all burners to the high and close lid for 10 mins.

Then I adjust to desired heat and cook with the lid closed.

    Cooking with a charcoal grill can be easy and quick than you think, Here is how you can cook steak on a charcoal grill that will give your steaks the ultimate smoky flavor

    The total time of cooking a steak on a charcoal grill is 20 minutes, these tender, juicy steaks bursting with flavor will make you want to grill again.

    • First, take your steak and season it on all sides with your favorite rub. Then let it rest for 30 minutes. This will help it grill faster and more evenly while holding the seasoning better
    • Get your coals ready and you want your charcoal to be hotter around 550-650 degrees F(so you can use a chimney for your charcoal)
    • When your coals are ready, place them on one side of your grill for direct heat and leave the other side with no coals for indirect heat. Open all vents on the grill and place a cover on the grill. Pour oil onto a folded paper towel to oil the grate grill when the grill is ready, you can use long-handled.
    • So now you can place your steak on the grate directly above the coals and wait for 2 minutes then rotate your steak. Let it sear for another 2 minutes.

    Then flip your steak over and do the same thing on the other side. When it is seared perfectly, move it to the warm side where there are no coals. So now you can close the charcoal grill lid and cook until it reaches your desired temperature

    How many times should you flip a steak on the grill?

    You only flip once when cooking with a charcoal grill and place your steak on the warm side to cook indirectly to reach your desired temperature, you no longer need to flip your steak.

    When your steak is done, place it on the cutting plate and let it rest for 5 minutes, it will make your steak nice and tender
